Walk a micro pig

Your chance to walk one of our tame micro-piggies around a beautiful orchard.
This is a uniquely personal experience, giving you and your family the full Huckleberry Woods experience.  This experience is equally enjoyable for adults on their own or children over 4 years of age.  PRE-BOOKING IS ESSENTIAL
(Please note: walking a micro pig is not included as part of the standard entry price)

Meet your piggy
When it's time for your piggy walk we'll take you over to meet the pigs and introduce you to them and their individual personalities.  We'll help you choose the perfect pig for you to walk and may recommend a particular pig.
There'll be a short introduction on how to walk your piggy and then off you go.  (Please note that your walk will take place at some point within your two hour visit but not necessarily as soon as you arrive.  You're welcome to look around and see the other miniature animals before or after your walk.)

Walk your piggy

You'll have plenty of opportunity to stroke the piggies, take photos and ask questions during your walk.  You can stop to greet the miniature donkeys, alpacas, ducks and chickens as you go and you'll usually encounter several wild brer rabbits along the way (watch out for the pesky rabbit holes!). The pigs go at their own pace, they may amble about slowly or be feeling a bit more energetic with running involved - it all depends on the piggy on the day. You can drop the lead if the pig is going too fast for you at any time.  At the end of the walk we head back to the piggy's house for a well earned rest and a hand wash.  You'll be accompanied for most of your walk by a Huckleberry Woods pig handler to help you and your piggy stay safe.
Length of walk is around 20 minutes before the pigs have to go back home for a drink and a rest.

Relax
After your walk, why not relax with tea, coffee or a soft drink in the mini summerhouse, while the children let off steam in the small play area or feed the ducks and chickens. Great fun all year round.

Piggy sharing

Piggies can't be shared between several people. Too many people crowing round them or swapping leads tends to frighten them.

The nature trail
After your walk you can explore the mini woodland nature trail discovering folklore, myths and legends as you go. Stop off and play a while in the mini-lands you'll pass including the colourful North American Indian Camp and the Gingerbread house.  And don't forget to pan for gemstones at the old abandoned mine.  Or hunt for clues in our very own Orchard Treasure Hunt.

Spectators
Friends and family are welcome to book a piggy walk at the same time as yours or to watch you with your piggy (without crowding round them) and perhaps join you for tea in the mini summerhouse and on the nature trail afterwards (Booking also required for friends and family).

How big are the pigs

To manage your expectation about the size of the pigs - they are micro pigs but not tiny piglets anymore.  They're 3 years old at the moment and about the size of a small Staffordshire Bull Terrier).  Lots of the pictures of micro pigs you see on line are new born piglets and they don't stay that size for ever - much like puppies!)

Age limits

This experience is appropriate for all ages from sensible 4 year olds to OAPs! You have to be steady on your feet and able to remain calm and quiet around the animals.  This experience is not suitable for the under 4s or older people who may be a little wobbly on their feet.  Toddlers remain your responsibility to keep well back from the pigs.

Please note: All visitors enter Huckleberry Woods and take part in animal encounters and experiences at their own risk.
